project overview

Meadow Crest brings together school district and community-based early learning programs under one roof, facilitating early childhood education, community interaction and family engagement.  Programmatic goals included personalization of the learning experience, which was accomplished via organization by age group, and the creation of learning and play spaces on a scale tailored to young children. Classrooms, meeting spaces and play areas are grouped into small wings, which allow children to move between spaces easily and experience their surroundings at an appropriate scale. The intimate nature of the wing concept creates a small school environment within the context of the larger facility, enabling enhanced supervision and classroom management by staff members.  Large garage doors in each interior play court open onto individual outdoor play courts and the adjacent inclusive playground, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor play spaces.
