project overview

Development of a flexible, personalized learning environment was the overarching theme for Chinook’s replacement. The scale of the school is mitigated through a design that features two academic wings emanating from a central core that houses the commons, music and theater programs, and connects via a ‘main street’ circulation spine to the gymnasium and athletic program areas. Core and applied learning programs are integrated throughout the academic wings and special education classrooms are interspersed throughout the learning environment, supporting broad student interaction. Multiple exterior spaces support outdoor learning, social interaction and community use. Chinook features integrated contemporary educational technology including WiFi, Smart Walls, interactive white boards and projection systems, and acoustical enhancement strategies throughout the learning environment.
