Project Manager

  • Location:

    Tacoma, Bend or Portland

  • Salary:

BLRB Architects is looking for a creative, collaborative, communicative, detail-oriented, and experienced project manager to join our Tacoma, Bend, or Portland office. This position is open to individuals with 3+ years of experience fulfilling the project manager role on public or commercial projects or 5+ years as a project architect with some project management responsibilities. While technical skills and experience are important, BLRB seeks team members who share and model our values of respect, service, responsiveness, integrity, and collaboration. If you don’t have all the specific skills listed but feel you would be an excellent fit for our firm and this position in other ways, we encourage you to apply.

We are looking for team members to help us provide exceptional client service, responsive designs, and excellent document sets for which we are known. We work in project teams, and this position will work directly with the office Principal and receive support from an enthusiastic and capable project team.

The person in this role needs to understand, respond to, and balance the needs of the firm, clients, and their project team. While this position will support BLRB’s commercial projects, you will have opportunities to cross-train and experience other project types, including schools and civic facilities. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, organizing and directing teams to execute the work in an orderly, timely, and coordinated manner; ensuring the project meets the budget goals and schedules set by the client and Principal; coordinating the production of construction documents and specifications; developing proposals to win work; soliciting proposals from consultants; coordination with government agencies, utility companies, and resolving plan check and approval issues with the agencies. The ideal candidate would exhibit an ability to maintain client relationships while also motivating their project team to achieve excellence.

BLRB has a robust professional development program, including on-the-job mentoring, quarterly check-ins with the office Principal, opportunities to learn new skills, and continuing education support. Currently, this position is a mix of remote and in-office as needed/desired. Our firm’s long-term (post-pandemic) remote work policy is designed to be very flexible, with only one standing day per week required in the office. We prefer any new employee to spend some extended time in the office through various levels of training, which may include travel to other office locations as current safety guidelines allow (time and travel costs paid), but we are willing to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs as well as ours.

Skills for this position include:

· Focus on client service and responsive communication.

· Excellent collaboration, with a proven ability to work successfully on teams.

· Direct, organize and mentor junior staff with the responsibility of overseeing their assignments

· Excellent organization and time management.

· Extensive experience leading and coordinating projects.

· Balance of design creativity and technical proficiency.

· Detail-oriented and thorough.

· Mastery of construction documents and project procedures.

· MS Office Suite.

· A bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture or related field

· Three years minimum of on-the-job project manager experience on commercial architecture projects or 5+ years as a project architect with some project management responsibilities; multi-family project experience a plus
