Revitalizing a Beloved, Historic Community Asset

Veterans Memorial Pool has been a community recreation staple for Walla Walla residents since the1950s when it was built. The pool and site were in dire need of repair, and had been closed to public use since 2009. After more than five years spent seeking community approval, a capital bond to renovate the iconic facility was approved on a special election ballot in 2015.

Restoring function and expanding amenities

Our work encompassed planning, design and construction administration services for a comprehensive renovation of the 50-meter X 25 yard outdoor pool; addition of a zero depth entry children’s pool and modernization of the existing bathhouse to house the new mechanical systems.

The design also included a new slide and interactive pool amenities; a new bathhouse with concessions stand and landscaped pool deck.
